I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. Remain in me and I will remain in you.  No branch can bear fruit by itself - it must remain in the vine.  I am the vine, you are the branch.  If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing.  If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers.  Such branches are picked up, cast into the fire and burned.  

John 15:1-2,4-6

If you love me, you will obey my teaching.  My Father will love you and we will come to you and make our home with you.  If you do not love me, you will not obey my teaching.  These words you hear are not my own, they belong to the Father who sent me.  John 14:23-24

If you hear these words of mine and put them into practice, you are like a wise person who built their house on the rock.  The rain came down, the streams rose and the winds blew and beat against that house yet it did not fall because it had its foundation on the rock.  But if you hear these words of mine and do not put them into practice, you are like a foolish person who built their house on sand.  The rain came down, the streams rose, the winds blew and beat against that house and it fell with a great crash.  Matt 7:24-27

If you hold to my teaching, you are my disciple.  Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.  John 8:31-32

The devil does not hold to the truth because there is no truth in him.  When he lies, he speaks his native language.  He is a liar and the father of all lies.  John 8:44
