If you want to become great, you must be a servant just as I did not come to be served but to serve and to give my life as a ransom for many.  Matt 20:26,28

If you want to be first, you must be the very last.  Mark 9:35

Because the last will be first and the first will be last.  Many are called but few are chosen.

If you would come after me, you must deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me.  If you want to save your life, you will lose it but if you lose your life for me and the gospel, you will save it for eternity.  What good is it for you to gain the whole world yet forfeit your soul?  Or what can you give in exchange for your soul?  If you are ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, then I will be ashamed of you when I return in my Father's glory with the holy angels...  Mark 8:34-38
